Bill Greason was a solid starting pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1970s and 1980s. He was a workhorse who averaged over 200 innings per season during his prime. Greason was not a strikeout pitcher, but he relied on his control and ability to induce ground balls to get outs. He was a key member of the Cardinals' World Series championship team in 1982.

Greason retired from baseball in 1988 after 12 seasons in the majors. He finished his career with a record of 125-120 and an ERA of 4.37. He was a two-time All-Star and finished in the top 10 in the NL in ERA twice.
